enya's Internet infrastructure, which consist mainly of cell-phone towers, was greatly improved with the 2009 landings of two submarine fiber-optic cables at the port city of Mombassa. This added capacity should translate to an improvement to the nation's school system which is the goal of the SpotBeam project: to provide e-learning using video conference technology. This technology allows for live broadcast of lessons using slide presentations, videos and interactive whiteboards, with the remote teacher being visible and able to interact with the students in realtime. The blueprint below shows some of the equipment needed for a pilot project for two schools.
